The background is superb - a wonderful colour selection that compliments the colour scheme of the character.
The character stance effectively shows the elegance of the (what I'm assuming is a female) character, as well as firm; to denote the strength and power of the mage. Perhaps some darker shading around the ground where the feet are placed, to give the character a firm sense of placement in the image.
Although I haven't played any Final Fantasy games, I particularly like the Steampunk style present (the belt, goggles and detail in the staff) as well as the colour selection and detail of the outfit.
The wisps of light surrounding the character are perfectly placed - they do not distract the viewer from the overall picture, and greatly compliment and enhance the magical feeling expressed
Overall, a brilliant piece of art that effectively conveys a sorcerer/mage without the stereotypical robe outfit. I look forward to your next art piece.
